The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), yesterday arraigned four staff of First Marina Trust Limited before Justice J. E. Oyefeso of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing to the tune of USD $500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars). The accused identified as Adeyemi Oluwaseun, Suleiman Yusuf, Yusuf Imran Adekunle and Haruna ssah-allegedly agreed to defraud their employers of the sum of money. After arraignment and plea for bail, Justice Oyefeso, however, ordered the defendants to be remanded in Ikoyi prison pending the hearing of the bail applications by the defence counsels.

The decomposing body of a 400 level student of the Osun state University, who was reported missing 9 days ago, has been found.. According to PUNCH, the student’s corpse was found almost decomposed in a bush near a certain Muslim cleric’s (Alfa) house. Some students residing near the Jafaria street told PUNCH correspondent who visited the bush that the Alfa, who was arrested in connection with the student’s disappearance showed the policemen the place where the corpse was dumped. Some friends of the deceased were unable to hold their tears as they perceived the stench from the body which they recognised as their friend.. The commissioner of police, Mr Fimihian Adeoye, who was contacted on the phone, couldn’t speak because he was in a meeting. But the Deputy co-ordinator of the National Association of Nigerian students in south west, Saheed Afolabi confirmed the development to the correspondent.

While speaking to correspondent, Miguiel Caestano, who is the Zambezia police spokesperson said the plan was to focus on the people behind the killings. “The main criminals are people from neighbouring countries, chiefly Malawi, Tanzania and the Great Lakes region,” Caestano was quoted as saying. Reports in June indicated that two bald men aged over 40 were killed in Milange, in the centre of the southern African country, a few kilometres from the border with Malawi. The students of Model College, Igbonla who were kidnapped 40 days ago are yet to return home to their parents or the school hostel. According to their parents they already paid an amount before the kidnappers stopped talking to them. They have also accused the government of not having words for them or returning their kids to them. 40 days? This is truly heartbreaking. Only last October, kidnappers stormed the same school abducted students and the vice-principal but released them after few days. One would have have thought that security would have been upped at that particular school considering what fell upon it.
